Bubblepaw's ears were up again, but he soon shook his head at what the warrior was saying, "I didn't lose the sense I never had it," he mewed. Bubblepaw suddenly felt the scent of vole coming at him, Bubblepaw quickly judged the distance. Bubblepaw stepped out of the way of the vole, he heard it fall to the ground near his feet. "What was that for? You know you shouldn't treat prey like this when we don't have enough as it is," he meowed.

Tawnyblaze shook his head, "Of course, but if you were born without it then you would be born with your other senses stronger," his optics watched Bubblepaw sidestep the vole and a smile formed on his light maw, "Like just now for example, other cats wouldn't have known the vole was coming through scent and if they hadn't been watching they would have been hit." Tawnyblaze became more serious now," BUt does you mentor understand this?" he knew if Bubblepaw was to become a warrior he would need a mentor who was able to understand his differences as help him work with them.

Bubblepaw laughed, "My mentor is to caught up in his darling apprentice Tulippaw. I have forgotten his name, and I bet he has forgotten mine. As far as I'm concerned I have no mentor," Bubblepaw finished.

Tawnyblaze was taken slightly aback y the fact that Bubblepaw didn't remember his mentor's name, "Perhaps you should ask Fallingstar for another mentor," his gaze was thoughtful once again, "But this time one who understands and knows how to work with your differances." He gave the apprentice a kind smile even though he knew Bubblepaw would not see it. The young tom need trainng and he couldn't train alone and without this basic knowledge he could never become a warrior, this aggrivated Twanyblaze because no good mentor would leave his apprentice in such a state as this.

Bubblepaw's blue eyes brightened, "I think Fallingstar was going to do a ceremony for Sorrowkit soon, maybe I could get a new mentor then. Maybe you could ask Fallingstar about being my mentor!" Bubblepaw meowed excitedly. Bubblepaw smiled, "I might finally be able to become a warrior!"

Tawnyblaze gave a hearty laugh, "Perhaps, if Fallingstar thinks it fit that I be your mentor. If she's already having a ceremony for Sorrowkit then I think you'll have a good chance in getting a new mentor." Inside Tawnyblaze knew he wanted to mentor this apprentice, he needed it more than anyone else and he deserved it as well. He just hoped he could teach Bubblepaw everything he needed to know in time.

Bubblepaw smiled, all is previous sadness gone. "Twanyblaze do you think you could teach me something now, even though you aren't my mentor?" Bubblepaw asked sheepishly. He hoped that Twanyblaze would say yes, Bubblepaw hadn't gotten to do anything in a long time.

Tawnyblaze smiled gently, "Alright, it could hurt could it?" His silvery orbs shifting across the leave littered ground then suddenly he figured out what the first thing he might teach Bubblepaw before trying to become his mentor, "I'll teach you a basic skill, every apprentice needs to learn to hunt whether they are becoming a warrior or medice cat," His sturdy pillars lifted him from the ground, "We'll have something to show Fallingstar when for that cerimony then, won't we?" his tawny ringed tail swept the ground brushing the leaves away to create a small sort of clearing. He then hooked a large, dried leaf with his claws and placed it in the center of the leafless space. "See if you can tell where this leaf is, and when you think you have it pinpointed," he paused to look at the apprentice glad that he might be able to teach him something so Fallingstar would have something to base her decision off of, "I want you to pounce, as if it were a vole or mouse."

Bubblepaw heard a bunch of rustling, and when it stopped he heard one finally rustling sound. Bubblepaw imagined the small leaf circle in his mind, think about where everything was. It sounded like Tawnyblaze had placed the leaf in the center of the circle, once again Bubblepaw went back to that picture. "OK I think I know where the leaf is," he meowed. Bubblepaw crouched down and wriggled his hunches like he was suppose to and sprang into the air. He land slightly to the left of the leaf, his paw just brushing its tip. "I missed it," Bubblepaw meowed sadly.

Tawnyblaze's grin was in his tone of voice as he spoke, "Don't worry Bubblepaw, many cats without sight would have landed much further off then that,"He brushed his tail against the leaf causing it to rustle and brush against the apprentice's paw, "That was quite good for a first try, you'll do well in training." The large tom made another clearing slightly larger this time. With more space without leaves the rustling of the one he placed in it would be slightly more evident. "Try again." he did not even need to touch the leaf to cause it to rustle for a breeze rocked the leaf gently.

Bubblepaw looked at Tawnyblaze with a confused look on his face, "How am I suppose to try again if you didn't even move the leaf?" Bubblepaw put his paw down on the leaf, "You didn't move it," he meowed.

Tawnyblaze flicked the apprentice's shoulder with the tip of his tail, "You must listen Bubblepaw, there is another leaf in a different place this time." His tail then curled around to rest on his front pawsa nd he reclined on his haunches, "Try to locate the new clearing and the new leaf, see if you can land closer to it this time." He hoped the apprentice would not be discouraged, he was just starting with this and it make take time, most likely more time then any of the other apprentice's would considering also that the others had begun training some time ago.

Bubblepaw nodded, "Sorry Tawnyblaze, I listen more carefully next time." Bubblepaw now had no idea where the make believe the clearing was, but then just then he heard the slight rustling of leaves. Bubblepaw turned, crouched and lept. This time he landed on the leaf, "I did it!"

"It's all right Bubblepaw, I gave you no warning, but you must hear every sound in the forest and know it by name. But something as great as that will come in time." His smiled as he watched the young tom and almost jumped up to give him a swift lick when he landed squarely on the leaf, but he held himself back. "Perfect Bubblepaw! You landed spot on that time!" pride for the apprentice swelled inside of the tom and he let a small momentary purr escape his vocals. "As you practise we shall make the clearing smaller until you can pinpoint a leaf in a very small circle. Shall we try again?" He had just thought of another way to get Bubblepaw ready for a real hunt, somethng with a moving target.

Bubblepaw nodded, "I will soon, this is my first time out of camp in a long time," he meowed. Bubblepaw smiled and purred he was proud of himself but he didn't just want to hunt leaves. "Can't we hunt something alive, or fight?" Bubblepaw asked hopefully.
