Lilypaw crept through the reeds of RiverClan, coming to the border with ThunderClan. She took a deep breath, feeling as though she could still smell Lionpaw there. She licked a frosty paw and sat, constantly tasting the air to check for the apprentice- and other cats.

Lionpaw looked out over the border, spotting Lilypaw immediately. He rushed down to her and rubbed her gently, feeling her warmth. He looked deep into her eyes, feeling that strange feeling in his stomach again, knowing it was pure love for this she-cat. Worried that she might have gotten into trouble with the kits, he asked, "What happened with the kits?" He licked her ear tenderly before hearing what she had to say.

And I'd Give Up Forever To Touch You, 'Cause I Know That You Feel Me Somehow. You're The Closest To Heaven That I'll Ever Be, And I Don't Want To Go Home Right Now.
Lilypaw rubbed her head under Lionpaw's chin and twined her tail with his. "I walked the kits back to camp and let them go without telling Brookstar," she replied softly, flicking her ears. She felt so... Complete with Lionpaw around, so close to the stars. With a feather light touch, she licked his cheek.

Lionpaw sighed contentedly as he felt her lick his cheek. He loved this cat with all of his heart, and he'd give anything to protect her. "Maybe it was better that you didn't tell Brookstar. Thank you for coming," he said, and he rubbed her again. He was absorbed in the moment, but he still kept alert for any patrols that might find them. He never wanted this to end, but he knew it would.

Lilypaw nodded and lay down. Even though she hadn't been training lately, the fact that she was betraying the warrior code made her feel worn out. But nothing else mattered; she was with her beloved.

Lionpaw looked up at the stars for a few minutes. Silverpelt shone brilliantly above their heads, and his eyes reflected their warrior ancestors. Then he looked down at the river; it was also reflecting Silverpelt. Looking back at Lilypaw, he felt something stir in his heart. Guilt. Being with Lilypaw meant that he was breaking the Warrior code. He sighed deeply and layed next to her, his heart tearing in two.
(Should someone bust them? It would create a lot of [glow=red,2,300]drama[/glow].)

Lilypaw pressed her muzzle into Lionpaw's shoulder. She felt her own heart tearing-- she was hurting Lionpaw, after all, and didn't want him to be like he was now. She rested her head on her paws and gazed forlornly out to the river. That was her home. Then she turned to look at the forest. That was Lionpaw's home. Was this right? Even if they did get away with it, where and how would they live? Her claws flexed on the ground. She never wanted this to happen. She never wanted to break the warrior code, to disobey every single thing that she had ever been taught and had ever vowed not to do. An unfamilar sound hissed through her teeth. Lilypaw wasn't normally a cat to hiss at anything, but she was just so confused...

Lionpaw's ears flicked back as he heard Lilypaw's quiet hiss, but he tried to ignore it. He looked at the river, knowing it was where she would have to live. Looking back at the forest, he, too, realized that they probably could never live together. He could feel his heart ripping in too, split between love and loyalties. His head hang as he thought deeply. He couldn't leave ThunderClan because Palestar was his mentor. He would never be welcome in RiverClan. But Lilypaw would surely feel isolated among the trees. He didn't know what to do, and he didn't want to hurt his true love. Oh, why did he have to experience love so soon?
Sighing, he looked toward the eastern horizon and was saddned; the sun was already beginning to rise. Why had this night ended so soon? He crouched over to lick his lover between the ears and whispered, "I have to go, but I promise that I will return to you." He nuzzled her one more time before turning and slowly padding away from the river.
